Brian Lamont Johnson

March 28, 1966 ~ July 29, 2017 (age 51) 51 Years Old


Philadelphia - Brian Lamont Johnson, the son of the late Howard Johnson, Sr. and Mildred Newirk was born in Salisbury, MD on March 28, 1966.  He peacefully departed this life on Saturday July 29, 2017 at Philadelphia Nursing Home in Pennsylvania.  Brian departed this life after a tough battle with Huntington Disease. 

After the passing of his parents, Brian was reared by his grandmother, the late Rosa (Mom Rose) Bowens.   

Brian received his formal education in the public schools of Wicomico County and later relocated to Philadelphia, attending West Philadelphia High School.  Brian was known for his gymnastics and football abilities.  He was a "Rapper" who wrote and produced his own music.  In 1990, "Silky B" released his first single along with "DJ Mike C," entitled "I'm Dangerous" which was played on the radio, city wide.  It can also be found on YouTube.

He was a self-proclaimed chef, that was employed prior to his illness with Houlihans and Bertucci restaurants and the Main Line Nursing Home.

Brian is survived by mourn four sisters: Odessa Pennewell-Rodiguez of Rhode Island, Linda Smith of Fruitland, Maryland, Karen Johnson of Virginia and Yvonne Johnson of Philadelphia.  He also leaves one son, Brian Robinson (Shanira) of Philadelphia and one grandaughter, Brooklyn; two aunts: Glorious Milbourne (Charles) of Philadelphia and Jeanette Mitchell of Fruitland, Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A brother, Howard Johnson preceded him in death in 2009.

Brian will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  He always found a way to make you smile.

A memorial service will be held, 1-3:00 pm, Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury.
