PARSONSBURG – Viola G. Johnson, 95, died Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Salisbury Genesis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury, where she had been a resident since 2010.
Born in Worcester County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Ray Duffy and Mary Parker Duffy. Her late husband Massifield “Ted” Johnson died in 1984.
She was employed for the thirty years with the Wicomico County Board of Education as a custodian at West Salisbury Elementary School.
She attended Williams A.M.E. Church, Newark, MD, Weeping Mary Full Gospel Church, Salisbury, MD, and Mt. Calvary Holiness Church, Parsonsburg, MD.
Her survivors include a daughter-in-law: Doris Shockley Parker; two grandchildren: Alece Shockley and Terrence (Temia) Parker, all of Salisbury; two great-grandchildren: Brittney and Autumn Parker; five god great-grandchildren: Joshua, Adrienne and Antoine Shockley, Thomas and Phillip Green and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A son, George Thomas Parker died in 1994.
A funeral service will be held noon, Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury where friends may view two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Green Acres Memorial Park in Salisbury.
