The Journey of a Queen...

Evangelist Yolanda Jeanette Hargis-Johnson, 62, affectionately known as Queenie, and Sista Love, peacefully departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on July 28, 2021, at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 24, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Levin Hargis Sr. and Gloria Virginia (Laws) Hargis.

Yolanda received her formal education in the Wicomico County public school system. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree through Salisbury University.

Yolanda was a hardworking person with great work ethics. She demonstrated pride and dedication to any task she undertook. Her earlier employment in the state of Maryland included Campbell’s Soup, Dorchester County Social Services & Dorchester County Health Department.  Yolanda worked the past several years as a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor for Palmetto Corner Addiction Treatment Center in Princess Anne, Maryland. Her job was another extension of her ministry work in life.

Yolanda’s love for God developed at an early age from her parents’ teachings and growing up in a Christian household. She received her Ministerial License through Christian Word College and became ordained as an Evangelist.  She also received her Associates of Ministry Degree from Christian World College of Theology. She faithfully served for more than twenty-five years as Armor Bearer to Mother Aliyah, of Word of Life Prayer & Healing Center, Laurel, Maryland, who was also her spiritual mother. Over the past few years, Yolanda faithfully attended Pathway To Life Church, in Salisbury, Maryland, where Pastor Shernita Dixon Boyd presides.

The name Sista Love truly suited Yolanda because she was the epitome of the word “Love.” She knew how to demonstrate agape love to all whom she met because she genuinely felt all people were worthy of agape love. All those you knew Yolanda, knew she loved four things: serving the Lord, spending time with her family, eating crabs and shopping at the Goodwill store!  Sista Love knew how to locate a bargain anywhere. She was a Fashionista and was talented at putting her clothing together to compliment her style. She was the Queen!

Yolanda was a loving woman and never hesitated to provide support to anyone in need. She had a special love on her heart for young people and was able to communicate and connect with them on a level which encouraged and motivated them. One of Sista Love’s unfulfilled dreams was to sponsor a Half-Way House program to provide services for adults with chemical dependency.

Yolanda leaves to cherish her loving memories three children: La Toya Walker, Tonya Fiddermon, and Taurean (Erica) McFarlin, all of Salisbury, Maryland; eleven grandchildren: Ju’Mareris Robinson, Rodney and Jarren Smith, Derrick and Tre’shawn Tull, Ta’Riyah and Ta’Shirah Horsey, Tionna, Tamia and Taylor McFarlin, and Hugosen Miclisse; four great grandchildren: three siblings: Garry Hargis, Marquita Hargis, and Kirtis Hargis, all of Salisbury, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended relatives and friends.

Yolanda will be deeply missed by all those you knew and loved her. She was a special person!

In addition to her parents: Levin Hargis Sr. and Gloria Virginia (Laws) Hargis, Yolanda was preceded in death by a brother: Levin Hargis Jr., and a sister: Jenoveria Hargis, both of Salisbury, Maryland.

Lovingly Submitted by the Family

“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
