Alfred (Pop Alfred) Gray, 92, died Thursday, August 1, 2019 at his home on Coverdale Road, DE. Born in Suffolk, VA, he was the son of the late Frank and Dorothy Gray. His late wife, Pastor Elberta Gray, died June 2015.
He was employed for several years at Elmer’s Market in Bridgeville, DE.
His survivors include nine daughters: Patricia Boyd, of Roanoke, VA, Vanessa Kerby, Ruby, Audrey, Melissa, Althea, Phyllis and Darlene Gray, and Carol Blake, all of Gloucester, VA; seven sons: Alfred White, James, Stevie, Webb Gray and Clinton Gray, all of Gloucester, VA, Larry Gray of Suffolk, VA, and Pastor Willie (Laticia) Wright of Bridgeville, DE, who were also his caregivers; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; one sister: Dorothy Chapman of Gloucester, VA; four brothers: Daniel, Joseph, Allen McNeil, and Rupert Bell; sisters-in-law: Mabel Stewart and Martha Bell; one son-in-law: Joseph Malloy.
Two sons: Ward and Michael Gray; two daughters: Sandy Mae Wright and Willie Mae Malloy; and three brothers: Roscoe, Dennis and Peter Gray, all preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Soul Saving Center, Bridgeville, DE, where friends may visit one hour prior to service. Interment will be in St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery, Berlin, MD.
