Clemmons Eugene Hudson

Clemmons Eugene Hudson, (Tommy) born September 3, 1939, was the son of the late Daniel Rudolph (Rudy) and Victoria Purnell Hudson. He peacefully departed this life Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD.

He attended Worcester County Public Schools. In 1959, he relocated to Philadelphia, PA for better employment opportunities. Subsequently, he attended a Philadelphia evening school and earned his high school diploma.

While living in Philadelphia, he was employed with Philco Ford, Eric’s Fuel Oil Company and Houston & Beach Ice Company, where he received the name as the “Ice Man.” He returned to Berlin in 1991, and became employed with Ocean Pines Wastewater Treatment Plant, retiring in 2003.

After retirement, Clemmons had time to enjoy travel via boat, motorcycle and car. He also loved cooking and listening to people talk about his good food. He was proud of the compliments he received for his cooking skills. Eating was also an enjoyment for him, and he frequently dined at different restaurants.

Clemmons received his Christian education at an early age at St. Paul U.M. Church in Berlin, MD. Receiving Christ as his personal Savior once he became an adult, he was baptized by the late Rev. Benjamin Tolbert, Pastor Emeritus of Grace Tabernacle Christian Church in Philadelphia, PA.  He was a member of the Tri-State Men’s Fellowship, and he visited various churches for service and bible study. After he relocated to the area, he and his wife, Julia attended Sunday service at Salisbury Riverside United Methodist Church, and Bible Study at New Bethel United Methodist Church in Berlin.

He married the love of his life, Julia Smith, in 1960. From this union, the couple was blessed with five daughters. He was a loving husband and devoted family man.

He leaves to cherish loving memories with his wife: Julia Hudson; four daughters: Florence Victoria (Robert) Beasley, Shelia (Milan) Brown, Tonja (Adam) Macon and Justine Hudson; eighteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two sisters: Vivian Smith and Shirley Beckett; two brothers: Daniel (Lorraine) and Oliver (Rose)  Hudson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; special daughters: Kesha Smith and Shareese Reynolds; and special sons: Ronnie Dillard, Angelo and Harold Wood and close childhood friend, Robert Johnson.

A daughter: Lydia Hudson; three siblings: Catherine Purnell, Yvonne Collick and Morgan Hudson, Sr. preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2019 at St Paul U.M. Church in Berlin, where friends may view two hours prior to service. Interment will be private.
