Elaine Long, 92 died Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Salisbury Genesis Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury where she had been a resident since May 2018..
Born here, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Christel (Curtis) Hitch. Her late husband, Charles Edward Long preceded her.
She was a graduate of the former Salisbury High School. Upon graduation she attended the former Delaware State College, now Delaware State University in Dover where she received a degree in Christian Education.
She was a longtime member of Wesley Temple United Methodist Church in Salisbury where she was active in several organizations and committees. She late transferred her membership to Lighthouse Full Gospel Church of God in Christ under Bishop Paul Harmon in Salisbury, MD where she was a church mothe
Mrs. Long is survived by a son: Glenn (Lynette) Long of Salisbury, MD; two granddaughters: Kolette Robinson of Colorado and Keisha (Craig) Mitchell of Laurel, MD; six great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, six siblings: Gerald (Barbara) Hitch of Denver, CO, Jackie (Ina) Hitch of Newark, DE, Mary "Peggy" Nicholas of Lanham, MD,Brenda Hitch, Shirley Dashiell, and Christel (Floyd) Willson, all of Salisbury, MD , several nieces and nephews.
One grandson, Keith Long and three siblings: Bobby Hitch, Russell Curtis and Flossie Hitch preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2018 at Wesley Temple UM Church in Salisbury where friends may view one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron, MD.
