Kendall Derwin Carter

June 27, 1963 ~ October 14, 2017 (age 54) 54 Years Old

Kendall Derwin Carter, the son of Leon Foreman and Loretta Carter was born in Wilmington, Delaware on June 27, 1963.  He peacefully departed this life on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at his home in Snow Hill, Maryland.

As a youth, Kendall was reared by his late grandmother, Virginia Lee Ward, and upon her death, he lived with his aunt and uncle: Edith and Robert Shockley, Sr. of Snow Hill, MD.

He received his formal education in the public schools in Worcester County.  His Christian training was received at Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church in Snow Hill, where he attended as a youth.

He was employed with various jobs over the years.  Most recently, he spent his days at Dove Pointe in Salisbury, MD where he would do odd jobs.

Kendall was an avid sports enthusiast. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys.  He was a gifted in the game shooting pool and playing Ping Pong.  He would often talk “trash” as he beat you at the game.

In 2010, Kendall endured a traumatic brain injury and made his home with his caregiver and devoted friend Becky Donoway.  Becky said he never seemed to get enough food to eat, so she literally had to lock the food away.  Even on Saturday, she found some chips in the car where he had snuck them out of the house.

Kendall loved to shop at the Dollar Store and would often greet people with a huge grin.  Whenever he would see his nieces and nephews, he would always say, “How old are you now?’ and then reply with, “Oh no you’re not!”  He would always tell “Ede”, “I have to go to Mt. Wesley.”

Kendall will be greatly missed by hi family and friends.  He leaves to cherish loving memories with his mother: Loretta Carter of Upper Marlboro, MD; father: Leon Foreman, Sr. of Claymont, DE; six brothers: Leon  “Emmanuel” Foreman of Norfolk, VA; Willie Land of Seaford, DE,  Alex, Maurice and Terry Land, all of Wilmington, DE and Ken Land of Norfolk, VA; one sister: Crystal (Howard) Pelt of Upper Marlboro, MD; his Snow Hill family: sisters: Marshelia Shockley of Salisbury, MD, Franzella  and Janice Shockley, both of Snow Hill, MD; brothers: Ronnie (Audrey) Shockley, Sr. of Berlin, MD; Robert (Lena) Shockley, Jr. of Salisbury, MD and Royce Shockley of Snow Hill, MD; a host of  aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A brother Ricky Land preceded him in death.
