SALISBURY – Lewis W. Jones, 66, died Friday, January 5, 2018 at Aurora Senior Living of Manokin in Princess Anne, MD.
Born in Boston, VA, he was the son of Allen and Marguerite (Major) Jones of Pocomoke, MD.
He was a 1969 graduate of Pocomoke High School. Upon graduation, he matriculated at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore (UMES), receiving a B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1974. In 1989 he received his MBA from Wilmington University.
He was formerly employed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Shore-Up, Inc. in Salisbury, MD; Director of Somerset County Organization for Progressive Enterprise, Inc. (S.C.O.P.E., Inc.) in Princess Anne, MD; taught business and psychology courses at the former Sojourner Douglas College in Salisbury and lastly, was a Farm Financial Management Specialist for UMES in Princess Anne, MD.
As a youth and young adult, he was an active member of the former Macedonia Baptist Church, now The New Macedonia Baptist Church in Pocomoke, MD. He later became a member of Wesley Temple United Methodist Church in Salisbury, serving on the Gospel Choir, Methodist Men’s Choir & Ensemble and past president of the United Methodist Men. He was also a member of the former Vibratones Band.
His civic involvement included member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Salisbury Alumni Chapter; UMES Tri-County and National Alumni Assoc.; Past Board Member of Go-Getters, Inc.; Connecting Link of the Princess Anne Chapter of Links, Inc; as well as several other organizations.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara Trott-Jones of Salisbury; two children: Neoshia Blackwell of Smyrna, DE and Westly Jones of Pittsburgh, PA; one granddaughter: Jada Blackwell; five siblings: Sharon F., Leon (Patrice) and Jennifer Jones,all of Salisbury, MD; Allison (Willie) Nicholson of Fruitland, MD and Terry (Angie) Jones of Snow Hill, MD; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Wesley Temple United Methodist Church in Salisbury, where friends may view, two hours prior to service. Fraternal rites will be held at 10:00 a.m. There will also be a viewing on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 6-7:30 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church in Pocomoke, MD.
