Welcome to the memorial page for

Mildred Duffy James

March 29, 1939 ~ May 8, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Mildred Charlotte Duffy James went home to be with the Lord on May 8, 2017.  Mildred was born in Salisbury, Maryland on March 29, 1939 to the late Ollie Bishop and William Duffy.  “Mother James”, as she was fondly called, lived a full life in service to God, her family and friends and her church.

Mildred was educated in Wicomico County Public Schools.  She attended cosmetologist school in Philadelphia Penn and Timshel School in Easton, where she graduated valedictorian of her class and received her senior beautician license.  Mildred worked at Peninsula Regional Medical Center for 43 years as a CNA.  She often covered holiday shifts so other workers could be home with their families.  She retired from PRMC in 2006 where she received many honors and accolades for the many years of joyful service.

Mildred began making crafts and flower arrangements for homes and churches as a hobby.  This endeavor led to a business called “Crafts from Within” because her designs came from her heart.  Mother James was best known for her ministry of liturgical dance.  She began this ministry at age 68 and blessed all who saw her.  Mildred was a faithful member of Refuge Temple Revival Center in Seaford, Delaware under Apostle Leon and Pastor Ethel Williams for over 40 years.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Ollie and William, and her late husband, Elder Toussaint James Sr.  She leaves to mourn her brother Louis Duffy of Chester Pennsylvania, nieces Carol Duffy, Salisbury, Md. and Dorothea Duffy Fuller (Andrew) of Columbia, Md.; nephews Keith Duffy, Salisbury, Md., Louis Duffy, Anchorage, Alaska, and Richard Duffy (Sylvia) of Phoenix, Arizona. She was blessed to have loving step-children: Toussaint James Jr (Sandie) and LeRoy Taylor (), Salisbury, Md.,  Gloria James, Newark, Del., Rosetta Pollock (Greg), Austin, Texas, Linda Waters (Noah), Aquasco, Md., Florine James, Lexington Park, MD and Doris Wigfall, Hyattsville, MD.  And several grandchildren.   She leaves to mourn many god-daughters, a host of grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.  Mildred was blessed to have her faithful sister-in-law, Helen Duffy Smith, to reside with her and care for her the last three months of her life.

Friends may call at the Jolley Memorial Chapel on Jersey Road, Salisbury from 5:00-8:00 pm on Monday, May 15.   Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at Refuge Temple Revival Center in Seaford, Delaware at 10:00 am.  A visitation will be held from 9 ;00-10 ;00 am prior to the service.  Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens in Herbron, Md.
