Sharon Denise (Leatherbury) Colburn

Sharon Denise Leatherbury Colburn, 55 of Wilmington, Delaware peacefully departed this earthly life Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Good Shepherd Penn Partners Hospice Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sharon was born March 9, 1964 to the late Leroy Leatherbury, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Hayward Leatherbury in Princess Anne, MD.

Sharon was educated in Wicomico County public schools and graduated from Wicomico Senior High School in Salisbury, MD. She attended Wor Wic Community College.  Sharon worked for AIG Insurance company for 18 years.  She then transferred her employment to Nationwide Insurance Company.  Her most recent place of  employment was The Money Center at Walmart. 

She accepted Jesus Christ into her life at an early age.  Sharon served as: Member of the Adult Praise Team, The Voices of Fellowship Choir, Youth Team Leader, and Youth Administrative Assistant. Sharon enjoyed serving the Lord and spending time with her family.  She also enjoyed reading a good book, singing on the choir, watching a good movie and cooking.

Besides her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her brother Melvin Leatherbury.

Sharon leaves to cherish special memories with 2 sons: Aaron Joseph Colburn and Israel William Colburn of Wilmington, DE; 2 sisters: Sheila M. Edwards (David) of   Salisbury, MD and Stephanie Scarborough (William) of VA;  one brother, Leroy Leatherbury, Jr. (Gillian) of North Woodmere, NY; 3 sisters/special friends:  Vivian Dee Collins of New Castle, DE, Michelle Puryear of Jamaica, NY and Lisa Johnson of Salisbury, MD; 4 nieces, 6 nephews, 2 uncles, 5 aunts, 2 great uncles and one great aunt. Sharon is also survived by four godchildren:  Carlston Derrick Brisco Jr., of Las Vegas, NV, Christopher David Brisco and Crystal Deanna Brisco of Cambridge, MD and Jon-Renee’ Burnett of Middletown, DE., and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

A Service of Celebration is scheduled for 4 pm, Sunday, August 11, 2019 at FIGHT for Families Fellowship Church in Wilmington, DE. Friends may call two hours prior to the service. Friends may also call 5 pm to 7 pm, Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Tabernacle of Prayer in Salisbury, MD.

Interment will take place 11 am, Monday, August 12, 2019 at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron, MD.
