Snow Hill – Shelton L. Deshields, Sr., 77 of Snow Hill, died Monday, December 4, 2017 at Salisbury Genesis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury, MD.
Born here, he was the son of the late Preston and Mary (Ward) Deshields.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, receiving an honorable discharge.
He was formerly employed for 13 years with the former Holly Farms, now Tyson Foods, Inc. in Snow Hill and retired in 1995 from Perdue, Inc. in Berlin after more than 20 years of service.
He was a member of Ebenezer U.M. Church in Snow Hill and their United Methodist Men.
His survivors include his wife of 48 years: Eleanor Deshields of Snow Hill; two sons: Edwin Deshields, Sr of Snow Hill, MD and Shelton L. (Viranda) Deshields, Jr. of Fayetteville, NC; four grandchildren: Edwin (E.J.), Jr., Jada, Autumn and Shelton III; two great grandchildren: Aiden and Dakota; five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.
Two sisters and five brothers preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church where friends may view on Friday evening, December 8, 2017 from 7-8:30 p.m. and again on Saturday, one hour prior to service. Interment will be in St. James Methodist Cemetery in Pocomoke, MD
