Ms. Collick was my kindergarten teacher in the 2012-2013 school year. She taught me how to read within one to two months of being in kindergarten. Ms. Collick helped shape me into the person I am today. She taught me discipline and how to and how not to do things. I will miss her. As a military child, you have to leave your school several times. I hoped to one day see Ms. Collick again. That appears to not be the case. God bless Ms. Collick's family and Oakland Primary School. Thank you for all you did for me, Ms. Collick. Thank you.

Was so sorry to hear about the passing of Shirley. Got to know her through our church, Grace Baptist of Sumter. It was always a joy to see her smiling face at Wednesday night prayer meeting and never departed without getting a hug from her. You could truly tell that Christ was always in her heart and she loved him dearly. Prayers for her family during this difficult time.

To you and your family with heartfelt sympathy together we mourn the loss, honor the memory, and celebrate the life of someone who will be so deeply missed. I worked with Mrs. Collick in the classroom for many years. We were a great team. I enjoyed working with her. She was an awesome friend as well. Though it's difficult to express how much sympathy goes out to you, still hope you know how close you are in heart and thought today. Love Shirley Lewis & Family

Shirley is a friend that nobody can replace. She was the one to encourage us to do better. I will miss our afternoon talks after everyone was gone. She I often closed the school. We ushered each other out the door most days. Our conversations would be about changes in education, our love and wishes for our kids, grandchildren, and the goodness of the Lord. She and I talked about our true home being heaven...to our sorrow but her Joy she has made her way home as a faithful servant to our Lord. We at Oakland had the greatest amount of respect and love for Shirley Collick. Family, we are praying that God is comforting you and that the eternal love she has for you will stay with you as you continue on your journey here on earth.

Mrs. Collick taught two of my son's Trevor and Tyler at Oakland and she always treated my babies like they were her babies. She was one in a million teacher. My boys remember many things she taught them about life. They would put their hands in their pocket and she would say" take those hands ot those pockets working men never keeps their hands in their pocket". She will truly be missed.
