Arlester Horne Jr., aka "June 69," of Salisbury, MD, passed away on May 21, 2025, in Salisbury, MD.

Affectionately known as June, he was born on March 20, 1956, in Wilson, NC, to the late Arlester Horne Sr. and the late Ruby (Sutton) Barnes. He began his education in Wilson, NC, and, after relocating to Berlin, MD, continued his early schooling at Flower Street School. June then attended Worcester High School and graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1974.

June worked in the rod trade for over 40 years, helping to build bridges, hotels, hospitals, and numerous other projects across the Eastern Shore. He served as a Rod Foreman with Harkins Construction for over 25 years. Most recently, he was employed at Walmart in Pocomoke, MD, where he worked for over three years until his sudden illness.

June loved watching sports—ESPN was often on his TV. He enjoyed playing softball and was a member of several teams, including the Mason Dixon, Berlin Eagles, and The Legion. An outdoorsman at heart, June had a green thumb and took pride in caring for his yard and vehicles. He enjoyed dancing and listening to music, with James Brown being one of his favorites. June was known for his lively personality—he loved cracking jokes, talking trash with the guys, playing cards, and shooting pool. He was never at a loss for words. A skilled barbecuer, he cherished spending time with his family and often woke before the crack of dawn to visit loved ones in North Carolina and other places.

June was preceded in death by his parents, Arlester Horne Sr. and Ruby (Sutton) Barnes; one sister, Linda Hardy; one brother, Alonzo Horne Sr.; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Arlester Horne III (Dawn) of Salisbury, MD; his granddaughter, Armya Horne; and his siblings: Brenda Sturgis of Berlin, MD; Anthony Horne (Linda) of Cambridge, MD; Angela Alexander of Salisbury, MD; and Glenda Horne of Lawton, OK (sister-in-law). He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
