Barbara Ann Merritt, 63 died Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.
Born in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. Lyles, Sr. and Eloise (Merritt) Lyles and the stepdaughter of the late Lillie Mae Lyles.
She was a 1970 graduate of Wicomico Senior High School. She attended Wor-Wic Community College.
At the time of her demise, she was employed in Environmental Services at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore and with the Wicomico County Board of Education as a custodian at Salisbury Middle School. She retired after more than twenty years from the former Dresser-Wayne Industries.
She attended Restoration Church of God in Christ in Salisbury.
Her survivors include a son: Derrick L. Mitchell of Salisbury; one granddaughter: Kamiyah Mitchell of Bowie; a devoted friend Maurice Turner; nine siblings: Carolyn Merritt, Rose Lyles, Vernita (Joe) Barnard, Sarah Purnell, Reba Laniyan, Bonnie (Greg) Bailey, Charles (Retha) Lyles, Charles (Tawanda) James and Donald (Gloria) Rhem; aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A brother Richard Lyles preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, March 5, 2016 at New Dimensions Ministries, 1907 Jersey Road, Salisbury, MD where friends may view, one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Parson's Cemetery in Salisbury.
