Obituary
Boyd Orlando Polk, 82 died Saturday, May 28, 2016 at PRMC in Salisbury. He had been a resident of Anchorage and Salisbury Genesis Nursing Home.
Born in Allen, he was the son of the late Clarence and Rosa (Jones) Polk. His late wife Hilda Cottman Polk died January 2000.
He was a graduate of the former Salisbury Colored High School and member of the Salisbury High School Association.
He retired after 29 years from Salisbury University where he was a cook.
He was a member and pianist for Unity Christian Fellowship Church in Salisbury.
He is survived by two sons: Gerald Bivens of Salisbury and Boyd (Joyce) White of Painter, VA; five grandchildren: Phillip (Deborah) Morris, Jacque' Polk, Kendall Adams, Tyneshia White and April Bivens; twelve great grandchildren, three siblings: Calvin and Roger Polk and Iva Brookins and a host of nieces and nephews.
A daughter and son: Evangelist Bronte' Polk-Singleteary and Roger West and eight siblings preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday June 10, 2016 at Weeping Mary Full Gospel Baptist Church, Shavox Road in Salisbury where friends may view one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Eastern Shore Veteran's Cemetery in Hurlock.
