Brenda Ophelia Dennis, beloved daughter of the late Alfred Dennis and the late Gwendolyn Olivia Dennis, was born on November 20, 1945, in Salisbury, Maryland. She was a woman of grace, dedication, wisdom, and unwavering love whose life touched countless people throughout her 80 years.

Brenda was educated in the Wicomico County Public School system and proudly received her high school diploma from Salisbury High School in 1963. With a passion for learning and a heart devoted to helping others, she continued her education at Bowie State College, where she dedicated four years to her studies and earned her degree in Education in 1968.

After completing her education, Brenda returned to Salisbury, Maryland, where she began her remarkable career as an educator at Prince Street Elementary School. She devoted 37 years to teaching second grade, pouring her heart and soul into generations of young students. Teaching was more than a career for Brenda—it was her calling.

She had a special gift for working with children and took great pride in watching her students learn, grow, and succeed. Brenda was even blessed with the opportunity to teach her own niece and step-nephew during summer school, and, under her guidance, they passed with flying colors. She was simply good at what she did, and the love she had for her students was evident in everything she accomplished.

Outside of the classroom, Brenda was a faithful and devoted member of her church in Allen, Maryland. She served as a member of the Usher Board and remained active throughout the church community. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she found joy in serving others and being a part of the church family.

Brenda also had a love for life and adventure. She enjoyed traveling and creating memories with the people she loved. Her travels took her beyond the United States, including trips to the Bahamas, and she made several trips by plane to Tampa, Florida, to spend precious time with her family.

Brenda departed this life peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2026, while en route to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Maryland.

She leaves to cherish her memory Alfred’s stepdaughter’s, Tishura Towlhser, Tasha Bonneville, and Terrian Beaten; her brother, Darryl Dennis; her niece, Cristyl Dennis; her nephews, Christopher Dennis and step-nephew Clifford Rayos; and her great-nieces, Harmony Capeheart and Peace Capeheart.

A special thanks to Brenda’s God Children, Chantel Johnson, Twanna Corbin, and Earlee Corbin Jr. for their constant support, care, and love for their God mother throughout her life.

She also leaves behind extended family, friends, church members, former students, and countless others whose lives were made better because they knew her.
