Carolyn N. Birckhead, 83, died Saturday, August 30, 2014 in her 1006 W. Main Street home in Salisbury.
Born in Quantico, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Louise (Fields) Nichols. Her late husband, William Gerald Birckhead, Sr. died June 2008.
She was employed with Deer's Head State Center, retiring in 1992 after 25 years of service. She was also employed for 15 years with K-Mart in Salisbury.
She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Hebron where he served with the United Methodist Women and usher board.
Her survivors include four children: William, Jr. (Karen), Everett (Judy) and Beverly Birckhead, all of Baltimore; Leroy (Naushell) Birckhead of Salisbury; nine grandchildren; two sisters: Susie Dashiell and Marian Parker, both of Salisbury; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Charles Birckhead and Birdie Nichols and a host of nieces and nephews.
Two brothers and a sister: Scott, Leroy, Jr. and Martha Nichols preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 5, 2014 at Mt. Zion U. M. Church in Quantico. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Friends may call Jolley Memorial Chapel on Thursday from 6-8 pm and at the church one hour prior to service.
