Pocomoke City – Catherine "Cat" Bratten Bishop, 84 died Monday, November 10, 2014 at Hartley Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pocomoke City, MD.
Born in Girdletree, MD, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence W. and Pearline (Finney) Bratten. Her late husband, Clarence W. Bishop, Sr. died in 2000.
She was employed with and retired from the former Mid-Atlantic Foods in Pocomoke. She was also formerly employed with the former Bountiful Ridge Nursery of Dames Quarter, MD and former Golden Pride Poultry in Stockton, MD.
She was a member of St. John's Holiness Church in Stockton, MD where she served as a Communion Stewardess, church caretaker and worship leader of the testimonial services.
Her survivors include six children: Johnny Bishop of Exmore, VA; Margaret (Larry) Collins, Elizabeth, Clarence, Jr. and Maurice Bishop, all of Pocomoke City, MD and Marvin (Tina) Bishop of Salisbury, MD; seven grandchildren: Demontae and Lakesha Bishop, Larry Collins, Jr., Andre, Lynel Dynel and LaShae Wise; eight great-grandchildren: Nikiera and Bria Bishop, Dynel, Jr. and Dynasia Wise, Jalen and Jada Collins, Layla Pettit and Khila Gaillard; five siblings: Elsie Frazer of New York, Grace Wise, Mable Johnson, both of Pocomoke, MD; Elder Edward Bratten of Snow Hill, MD and Jesse Bratten of Salisbury, MD; three sisters-in-law: Lois Bishop, Olivia Bratten, both of Snow Hill, MD and Mary Bratten of Salisbury, MD and a host of nieces and nephews.
Six siblings and a daughter, Barbara Bishop (1953) preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. John's Holiness Church in Stockton, where friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 pm. Interment will be in Ebenezer/Mt. Wesley Cemetery in Snow Hill, MD.
