Cecil Fitzgerald Huntley, 81, was born on August 14, 1942, in Trinidad and Tobago, and passed away peacefully on December 12, 2023, in Salisbury, MD.

Cecil embarked on a journey to build a life in America where he encountered the love of his life, Rose. Their endearing 42-year marriage began on April 13, 1978, in Dover, NJ, surrounded by cherished friends and family.

Settling in Salisbury in 1980, Cecil dedicated over 40 years to the concrete industry, leaving his mark at Pocahontas, Harkins Concrete Construction, Randall, Chaney Enterprises and Thorogood Concrete. He retired in 2021.

Known for his laid-back demeanor, Cecil found joy in tinkering in his garage while listening to oldies, collecting coins, and growing summer vegetable gardens. His distinctive catchphrases, like "cool your hooves" and "oh, just taking it easy, "reflected his unhurried approach to life.

Cecil held a deep love for his homeland, frequently returning to Trinidad to revel in the vibrant carnival festivities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Huntley and Elvira Superville-Huntley, sisters, Yvonne James and Muriel Rogers, and brothers, Michael "Hollis" Huntley and Milton "Joe" Huntley.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Rose; a niece he treasured like a daughter, Danah Artis of Virginia; sister Pearl Purcell of St. Croix, VI; sisters-in-law Lisa (Dale) Pusey of Salisbury and Lystra Huntley of New Jersey; close friends of over 50 years, Bob (Towanda) Sample of Salisbury, and Joe (Brenda) Scates of New Jersey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Cecil's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.

NOTE: A cremation memorial service to celebrate Cecil's life will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Howell & Jolley Memorial Chapel. Feel free to drop by and honor our beloved Cecil.  We welcome your presence for any length of time.
