Charles Virgil Deal, 97, peacefully died December 23, 2023, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Charles and Emma Deal on October 27, 1926, in Salisbury, Maryland.

He graduated high school from Wicomico County public school system. He faithfully served in the United States Armed Forces and received an honorable discharged in August 1960. Charles worked over twenty-six years at Deers Head State Hospital, as a nursing attendant. He enjoyed his work and was well-loved and respected by his colleagues.

Charles was a strong-willed, hardworking family man, who valued family and community. For many years, Charles was an active and dedicated member of Mt. Calvary Community Church, formerly Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, in Fruitland, Maryland, until his health limited his activities.

He leaves to cherish loving memories his three daughters, Lena Deal, Charletta Deal, Amy F. Deal, all of Hebron, Maryland, and a stepdaughter, five grandchildren, Makia Orr (Olo'ye' (Chief) Makia Ifalewa Adunni Arifatu, Olo'ye' Awogbemi Arifatu Ifatosin), Tia Roberson, Shameka (Alan) Johnson, Tiera Crockett (Michael Garner), Demehza Deal Askins, six great grandchildren, Shawn Brown Jr., Paris Parsons, Amayah Roberson, Lakyla Roberson, Jakai Pinkett, Demire Askins, one great-great grandchild, Aadyn Ayres, four brothers, James Deal, Ralph (Shirley) Deal, Sidney (Martha) Deal, Clyde Deal, and one sister, Doris Saunders, whom he deeply cared about, and a sister-in-law, Erla E. Beale, and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends. Charles was deeply loved, and he will be missed.

He is predeceased by his parents, Charles, and Emma Deal, his first wife, Amy R. Fenner Deal, his second wife, Rev. Christine B. Deal, brother, Alton Deal Sr., one sister-in-law, Ruth Deal, two stepsons, Billy Saunders, and Darryl Saunders.
