Bishopville- Charles Alfred Fooks, Sr., 83 died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Harrison Senior Living of Snow Hill.
Born in Berlin, he was the son of the late Lankford and Louise (Sturgis) Fooks. His late wife, Radie Handy Fooks died in 2010.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge.
Prior to entering the nursing home, he attended Union United Methodist Church in Delmar, MD.
He was employed for several years as a truck driver with Mountaire Farms in Selbyville, where he retired.
He was a member of Lincoln Lodge #53, F&AM, PHA and the American Legion, Duncan Showell Post #213, both of Berlin.
His survivors include four children: Charles, Jr. of Berlin, Kenneth of Baltimore, Kevin (Danelle) Fooks of Frankford, DE and Etta (Michael) Murray of Mardela Springs; ten grandchildren: Jervonte, Nicholas, Eric, Wynekia and Latasha Fooks, Kevonte, Devin and Dante Bailey, Rebecca Landerkin and Shawnee Mumford, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law: Helen Smith and Ionia Davis, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Three siblings: Etta, Lloyd and Raymond Fooks preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Bishopville where friends may call one hour prior to service. Fraternal rites will begin at 10:30. Interment will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 24, 2015 at Eastern Shore Veteran's Cemetery in Hurlock.
