Obituary
Drucilla ("Dru," "Cill") Purnell, 55 died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.
Born in Berlin, she was the daughter of Thelma Purnell of Berlin and the late Floyd Purnell, Sr.
She was a 1976 graduate of Stephen Decatur High School. She attended Wor-Wic Community College, pursuing a degree in education.
She was employed as an Educational Asst for Snow Hill Elementary School and Snow Hill Christian Academy, and as a Medical Technician at PRMC in Salisbury. She was also formerly employed with Snow Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation and Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Berlin where she worked with the Vacation Bible School, member of the Mighty Voices, usher, Assistant Sunday School Teacher and work on the Kitchen Committee.
She was a junior member of the Red Hat Society.
Besides her mother, her survivors include four siblings: Floyd (Elsie) Purnell, Sr. of Berlin; Catherine (Gary) Jones of Severn; John H. Purnell, Sr. of Pittsville and Yvonne Purnell of Berlin; one uncle: Robert (Maggie) Spence of Berlin, MD, several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Berlin where friends may call one hour prior to service. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
