Essel C. Shockley, Jr., 70 died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, MD.
Born in Salisbury, he is the son of Pauline Shockley of Berlin and the late Essel Shockley, Sr.
He was a 1961 graduate of the former Worcester High School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Veteran, receiving an honorable discharge.
Upon his discharge, he made his home in Boston, MA where he was a taxi cab driver. He returned to Berlin in 2010.
Besides his mother, other survivors include two siblings: Betty (Reginald) Washington of Selbyville, DE and Richard (Veronica) Shockley of Panama City, FL; one aunt: Mary Haywood of San Antonio, TX; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held noon Friday, May 30, 2014 at St. Paul U.M. Church where friends may call one hour prior to service. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
