Esther Edna Stansbury, daughter of the late William Stansbury and Esther Caroline Purnell Stansbury, was born December 4, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA and transitioned on July 29, 2014 in Berlin, MD.

From infancy, she was raised by her Grandmother, Mariah Caroline Purnell in Berlin. Grandmom preceded her in death on July 27, 1963. Except for the two years she lived in Ledgewood, New Jersey while her daughter Paulette and her husband Bill renovated her home, she lived in Berlin.

A devout Christian woman, Grandmom ensured Esther had a commensurate upbringing. Accordingly, Esther joined and attended Tyree A.M.E. Church in Berlin for many years. Through the years, she joined and attended New Bethel United Methodist Church and St. Paul United Methodist Church, all of Berlin. In her later years, she equally attended St. Paul and Tyree.

Esther received her formative education in the public schools of Worcester County, MD. She attended Germantown Elementary School in Berlin and went on to graduate from the Old Worcester High School located on Ross St., in Snow Hill, MD in June, 1944.

Following high school, Esther became a Meat and Poultry Inspector with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), from which she retired in 1999. A conscientious and committed worker, she received several awards and citations for her exemplary work.

Esther was strongly committed to the sanctity of her Grandchildren. Unlike her "evil" children, she believed they could do no wrong.

Stansbury (Philadelphia, PA), Yolanda Bailey and Sophia (Howard) Chestang – both from Washington, DC, Yentil Stansbury (Ponce, Puerto Rico); Grandchildren & Care Givers: Shelly Miller and Tyrone Briddell

Two sons, Teddy R. Stansbury and William F. Stansbury and one brother, Lawrence Stansbury, preceded her in death.
