Salisbury – Ethel L. C. Fosque, 89 of Salisbury, died, Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Westover, she was the daughter of the late David F. and Pearl (Curtis) Collins. Her late husband Reginald Fosque, Sr. died in 1967.
She received her formal education in the public schools of Somerset County. She was a 1942 graduate of the former Greenwood High School in Princess Anne. Upon graduation she matriculated to the former Maryland State Teachers College, now, the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore receiving a B.S. in home economics. She continued her education at Bowie State University where she transitioned with a B.S. in elementary education. She did further studies at several colleges in the State of Maryland, receiving a master's equivalency.
Her teaching career spanned 35 years as a 2nd Grade Teacher at the former Ross Street Elementary School in Snow Hill and Snow Hill Elementary School, retiring in 1991.
She was a member of St. James U. M. Church in Westover where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and former P.P. R. Committee member. She was also a member of the Worcester County Retired School Personnel Assoc., Maryland Retired School Personnel Assoc., National Education Association and the AARP. Her civic involvement included: former member of Order of the Eastern Star, Starlight Chapter #44, P.H.A. of Princess Anne, N.A.A.C.P. and the Bowie Alumni Assoc.
Her survivors include one son: Reginald (Judy) Fosque, Jr. of Salisbury; two stepchildren: Marguerite Parks of Accomac, VA and Esther Adkins of Patterson, NJ; three grandchildren: Regina, Kristen and Reginald Fosque IV; three great-grandchildren: Tyler, Trinese and Camryn; three siblings: Dorothy Smith, Curtis (Patricia) and David (Inge') Collins, several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Four sisters: Lelia Maddox, Pearl Eleanor Covington, Hazel Johnson and Lydia Miles; one daughter: Sue Reed and three grandchildren: Trineise, Reginald III and Tyler Fosque preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Family Worship Center, Truth Ministries, 1907 West Road in Salisbury, MD.
Friends may call Jolley Memorial Chapel, Friday, August 2, 2013 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. and on Saturday at the church, one hour prior to service.
