Gary's Journey

Gary Cortez Kane was born June 15, 1950, in Cambridge, MD to the late Geraldine Burroughs Kane and the late Jessie Badger, Jr.  Gary entered his eternal rest on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, MD at the age of 71.

Gary was educated in Dorchester County Public Schools.  He graduated from Cambridge High School with the Class of 1969.  Upon graduation, Gary began his career with various companies in the community.  Upon his retirement, Gary was employed with Aphena, in Easton, MD.

Gary gave his life to the Lord and became a faithful member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and served as a member of the Men's Choir.

Gary was a friend to many and was affectionately known as "Hippie" to those closest to him.  Those who knew "Hippie" could always find him at Kools washing his truck or by the water, fishing.  Hippie also had a vivid love for racing, cars, music. and spending time with his family and friends.

Gary leaves to cherish fond memories two sons: Don Chester, Sr. and Cortez Molock; one daughter, Keyanda Molock; 9 grandchildren: Daveoni Chester, Dayona Chester, Don Chester, Jr., Deagon Chester, Daylon Chester, Zsalei Chester, Londyn Molock, KyMiree Molock, and Ky'Juan Molock; 3 brothers: Jerry Burroughs, Thomas (Beverly)Henry, Jr., and Andre (Sandra) Badger; one loving sister, Bonnie Kane; one brother-in-law, Robert Thompson, Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents; Wilbert and Nellie Payne, Alfred and Emma Burroughs, Sr., Jessie and Madge Badger, Sr.; and a sister, Sandra Thompson.
