Mardela Springs – Geneva Smiley, 89 of Mardela Springs, died Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Glasgow and Emma Perkins. Her first husband, Milton Smiley died in 1994 and her second husband, Alexander Wongus died in 2010.
She was a graduate of the former Salisbury High School.
She was formerly employed as a seamstress for the former Manhattan and Gant Shirt Factory and Phillips Cleaners.
She was a former member and the church pianist for Mt. Pleasant A.U.M.P. Church in Mardela Springs. She later transferred her membership to Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church in Hebron.
Her survivors include one son: Tracy (Tina) Smiley of Salisbury, MD; one grandson Mark (Tanika) Smiley, Sr.; two great-grandsons: Antonio and Mark Smiley, Jr.; several nieces and nephews.
Her sister Jeanette Perkins Blue preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2017 at Nelson Memorial U.M. Church where friends may view one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Zion U.M. Church Cemetery in (San Domingo) Mardela Springs, MD.
