Pocomoke City – Grace Ellen Brittingham, 75 died Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at her Victoria Apartment home in Pocomoke.
Born in Snow Hill, she was the daughter of the late Louise Corbin McBride and Raymond Jackson and the step-daughter of Edna Jackson of Eden, Maryland.
She retired after 30 years from the former Hudson Foods, later Tyson's Foods in Berlin. She was also formerly employed with the Princess Anne Mac Center, delivering Meals on Wheels.
She was a member of Hutt's Memorial U.M. Church in Snow Hill where she served on the Usher Board, Lay Leader, Sunday school teacher, church financial secretary, PPR Committee, United Methodist Women, and member of the United Gospel Singers for 56 years. She was also a foster parent.
Besides her stepmother, other survivors include her husband Leonard Brittingham of Pocomoke, MD; two daughters: Sandra Bell (Kenny Baines) of Snow Hill, Wynesha Brittingham of Pocomoke; three foster children: Antonio Best of Goldsboro, NC, Keith Jones and Diamiana Brittingham, both of Princess Anne, MD; five stepchildren, two granddaughters, six great grandchildren, eight foster grandchildren, seven siblings: Rosetta Bratten, Mary Purnell, Raynetta Jackson, Lena (Bobby) Shockley, Bruce, Ivan and Keith Jackson; one aunt Pearl Jackson and a host of nieces and nephews.
Three sisters preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Snow Hill Middle School in Snow Hill. Interment will be in Hutt's Memorial U.M.C. Cemetery in Snow Hill. Friends may view Friday from 6-8 pm at Hutt's Memorial UM Church and on Saturday at the school, one hour prior to service.
