Obituary
Hattie Mae Purnell (Patsy), 82, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.
Born in Whitehaven, MD, she was the daughter of the late William and Nellie (Hitch) Purnell, Sr.
She retired from Shore-Up, Inc. as a foster grandparent. She was also formerly employed with the former Peninsula General Hospital, now PRMC as a CNA.
Her survivors include six children: Marcus Smiley, Sr. of Cumberland, MD, Etta Duncan of Delmar, DE, Sandra Harmon, Arnetta Smiley, Denise Smiley and Benita Watson, all of Salisbury; nineteen grandchildren; a host of great and great-great grandchildren; three siblings: William I. (Elaine) Purnell, Jr. of Owings Mills, MD; Dorothy McKinney, Mary Ann Doane and Eleanor (Rev. Marcus) Briddell, all of Salisbury, MD and several nieces and nephews.
A son, Maurice Purnell; three siblings: Charles and Nellie Purnell and Ella Cheeks preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held noon, Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Mt. Enoch Holy Church in Salisbury where friends may call two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Green Acres Memorial Park.
