Hazel Duffy Briddell (Muddy), 85 died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in her Flower Street home in Berlin, MD.
Born in Parsonsburg, she was the daughter of the late Wilmer and Bertha (Parker) Duffy. Her late husband, Brazelle Briddell, Sr. died in 1991.
She was a lifetime member of Williams A.M.E. Church in Newark, MD and periodically attended St. Paul U. M. Church in Berlin.
She was simultaneously employed and retired from the former Tyson's Poultry Plant in Berlin, after 30 years and the former Showell Poultry Plant in Showell, MD after 28 years. She was also employed with the family of Alger and Ann Abbott of Ocean City.
Her survivors include eleven children: Lila (Thomas) Curry of Upper Marlboro, MD; William Briddell, Sr. (Sheraldine Collins), Naomi Purnell, Victoria (Billy) Foreman; Ervin (Alice), Marshall, Ray and Randy Briddell, all of Berlin; Hazel "Vi" (Limens) Jean of Selbyville, DE; Brazil (Patricia) Briddell, Jr. of Delmar, DE and David (Gwendolyn) Briddell of Millsboro, DE; twenty-nine grandchildren; forty-five great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one son-in-law: Marshall Cropper of Wattsville, VA; two sisters-in-law: Catherine and Irane Duffy and a host of nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Sarah Cropper preceded her in 2008.
A funeral service will be held noon, Monday, November 4, 2013 at St. Paul U.M. Church in Berlin. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call Williams A.M.E. Church in Newark, Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and St. Paul U.M. Church in Berlin, Monday, one hour prior to service.
Funeral services are entrusted to Jolley Memorial Chapel of Salisbury, MD.
