Ingrid Maria Polk Shockley, 57 died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Salisbury, she is the daughter of Shirley (Morris) Polk of Salisbury and the late Melville T. Polk.
She was a 1975 graduate of Wicomico High School. Upon graduation she matriculated to Strayer College in Wilmington, DE and Wor-Wic Community College receiving an A.A. degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling. She did further studies at Sojourner Douglas College.
She retired in 2014 as a job coach with the Wicomico County Board of Education, serving 34 years at Wicomico High School and Vo-Tech. She was also employed as a counselor for Life Crisis Center in Salisbury. She was a member of the Wicomico County Education Association (WCEA).
She was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church where she served on the Sanctuary Choir. She was an avid reader and loved listening to music and dancing.
Besides her mother, other survivors include two children: Adrienne Shockley and Antionne (Kendra) Shockley of Salisbury; five grandchildren: Orion Shockley, Adam Fountain, twins: Noah & Chloe Morris and Alayah Shockley; two sisters: Renee' Deal and Melva Polk Wright of Salisbury; three uncles: Kirkland (Marion) Polk, William (Freda) Morris and Gerald Long; two nieces.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, May 15, 2015 at St. Paul A.M.E. Zion where friends may call two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Friendship U.M. Church cemetery in Snow Hill.
