James Percy (Jimmy) Owens, 89 of Ogle Avenue, died Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.
Born in Columbia, NC, he was the son of the late Percy and Nolia (Howard) Owens.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge in 1946.
He retired from the former Purity Bacon in 1980. He was also formerly employed with the former Swanson Foods, former Swift Co. and Perdue Farms, Inc. as the personnel manager. He also managed the former Postal Card and Budweiser Clubs of Salisbury.
He was a member of St. Mary's Missionary Baptist Church in West Post Office near Princess Anne.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret Boston Owens of Fruitland; five children: Donna (David) Palmer, Tina Boston, all of Fruitland; Faye Otiz, Sherri (Tom) Miller, all of Salisbury; and Andrea Tindley of Lebanon, PA; eight grandchildren, one which was raised as his daughter, Candice (Don) Polk of Allen, MD; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
Two brothers: Carlie and Calvin Owens preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 17, 2014 at New Dimensions Ministry, 1907 Jersey Road, Salisbury, MD where friends may view, two hours prior to service. Interment will be in the Eastern Shore Veteran's Cemetery in Hurlock, MD.
