Jolley
September 23, 1929 – February 19, 2026
Joan Toadvine Jolley, 96, answered the call of Almighty God and transitioned peacefully at her residence in Salisbury, Maryland, surrounded by her loved ones.
Joan, affectionately known as “Mom Mom,” “Aunt Joan,” and “Joanee” by her family and many in the community, was born on September 23, 1929, in Salisbury, Maryland, to the late Stanford Waters and Dorothy Toadvine. She was educated in the Wicomico County Public School System and graduated in 1946 from Salisbury Colored High School.
On July 2, 1962, Joan was united in holy matrimony to the late James E. Jolley. She was employed by Campbell Soup Company for more than 40 years. During her tenure, she was a proud member of the Campbell Soup Golden Girls.
She was also a dedicated member of the VFW Post 10159 Ladies Auxiliary and the Howard J. Purnell Memorial American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #145, where she maintained continuous membership for 29 years.
Joan was a faithful and devoted member of Wesley Temple United Methodist Church, where she served as a communion steward and was actively involved in the culinary ministry, soup kitchen, and United Methodist Women’s Ministries.
Joan will be lovingly remembered by her grandson, LaJuan J. Jolley, Sr.; her bonus daughter and primary caregiver, Frances Briddell; bonus grandchildren, Dionne Waters, Levon Foreman, and Elisabete Brandao; five great-grandchildren, Amari Jolley, Lanyah Jolley, LaJuan Jolley, Jr., Mason Gaynor, and Madison Gaynor; one great-great-grandchild, Milani Criner; her godchildren; her sister-in-law Grace Christian; aunts-in-law, Ruth Robinson, Emily Robinson, and Lena Riley; along with a host of nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Andre D. Jolley.
