Berlin – John Franklin Jarmon (Johnny-Boy), 87 died Thursday, September 1, 2016 at his Honeysuckle Road home in Berlin, MD.
Born here, he was the son of the late Leah V. Jarmon and Leroy Derrickson.
He was formerly employed with the former Bunting Nursery, Phillips Cannery and McGhee Plumbing. He was also self-employed as a plumber.
He was a member of St. Paul U.M. Church in Berlin.
He was an avid baseball player and played with the former Berlin Eagles, as a pitcher and shortstop.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary E. Jarmon of Berlin; two children: Lucille V. (Nelson) Collins of Berlin and Michael Sumpter of Victorville, CA; five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren, two sisters: Elfonsia Teagle and Evelyn Whaley, both of Berlin, MD; several nieces and nephews.
A grandson preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, September 10, 2016 at St. Paul U.M. Church, 405 Flower Street, Berlin, MD where friends may call two hours prior to service. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
