Joseph Ervin Morse entered eternal rest on November 1, 2024, at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional. Born November 16, 1940, Joe was the son of the late Malachi and Cleopatra Morse.
"Joe" grew up and received his formal education in the public schools of Tuskegee Alabama. Upon graduation from high school, he received a scholarship from Howard University. He matriculated at Howard, earning a master's degree in construction management technology and later a Law Degree. His education formed the foundation for his commitment to demanding work, entrepreneurship, and community service. Joe was employed for Shore-Up, Incorporated, and later become CEO and Publisher of The African American ("AA) Pride Magazine.
He attended Wesley Temple United Methodist church and enjoyed the word of the Lord and fellowship with the Pastor and church members.
In addition to his other commitments, "Joe" enjoyed watching sports, playing golf, writing, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren.
His greatest achievements included: the Minority Small Business Champion Award Winner, Omega Businessman of the year award, NAACP Lifetime Achievement award, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Humanitarian Service to the Community award, and 2015 Maryland Small Business Week Minority Business Champion Award winner.
"Joe's" "Pride and Joy" was The African American ("AA") Pride Magazine he published for many years until his health failed.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 58 years: Sylvia Edwina, son, Richard Erick (Amy) Eden, MD, daughter, Donna Marie Owens, Los Angeles, California, grandchildren, Richard Jr., Ronald Jr., Deidrick and RaShya, brother-in-Law, Richard "Dicki"(Joyce) Hall, sister-in-Law, Loretta F. Hall; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ronald E. Morse, Sr.
