SALISBURY – Josephine ("Jo") Fields, 84 died Saturday evening in her Flamingo Drive home in Salisbury, MD.
Born in Mappsville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Nettie (Cropper) Watson. Her late husband, Robert L. Fields, Sr. died in 1980.
She was a 1948 graduate of the former Salisbury Colored High School.
She retired in 1977 as a teacher's assistant from Pinehurst Elementary School. She was also formerly employed as a domestic engineer with the families of Robert Dickey, William & Judy Wyatt, Barbara Wyatt, William & Jean Smith, the late Edward Bounds and John Hess (the former Hess Apparel).
She was a member of Wesley Temple U.M. Church where she served on the United Methodist Women, Gospel choir and Culinary Arts Dept. She was also a member of the Salisbury High School Alumni Association.
Her survivors include three children: Margaret Ann Morris of Delmar, MD, Robert (Beverly) Fields, Jr. of Orlando, FL and Shirley (Robert) Jolley of Sharptown, MD; three grandchildren: Derrick (Freda), Jason (Bobbie) and Ashlie Morris; eight great grandchildren; one brother: Harold Watson of Salisbury and a host of nieces and nephews.
A brother James Howard Watson preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Wesley Temple United Methodist Church where friends may view on Friday evening, February 20, 2015 from 6-8 pm and on Saturday, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 23, 2014 at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron, MD.
