A Time to Live – A Time for Eternal Life

Lydia "Lottie" Francis Waters, was born March 17, 1929 in Princess Anne, Maryland.  She was the daughter of the late Catherine Armwood Waters and the late Benjamin F. Waters, Sr.  After a lengthy illness with kidney disease and dementia, God chose to reward her with the gift of eternal life on Thursday, December 31, 2020, while in her home.

A Time to Learn

Lydia "Lottie" received her formal education in the public schools of Wicomico County.  She was a graduate of the former Salisbury High School in Salisbury, MD.

A Time to Grow

Lydia "Lottie" worked for Dulany Foods then renamed Green Giant in Fruitland, MD, Perdue Foods in Salisbury, MD and lastly in food service for Wicomico County public schools.

A Time to Honor God

Lydia loved the Lord with all her heart.  She began her Christian journey at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church in Fruitland, MD.  While there she served with the culinary committee.  Once she was living in Salisbury and after fellowshipping with other churches, she decided to join the St. James A.M.E. Zion Church.  She continued to worship and praise God with all of her heart.  Lydia enjoyed traveling to services with other churches to worship and support her pastor.  While at St James, she sang with the Senior Choir and worked with the Stewardess Board helping to prepare meals for guest evangelists during the church's revivals.

A Time for Family

Lydia loved to spend time with family and friends.  She always planned holiday gatherings for family and friends to come together to eat, share and laugh.  She enjoyed gardening and certainly had a green thumb when it came to flowers.  Saturdays were always the time to go to yard sales even if she had to drag the grand kid(s) that spent the night with her.  She was an excellent cook with sweet potato pie being her specialty.  She received requests for her pies from those locally and on the western shore of Maryland.  Lydia volunteered in the concession stand at the Salvation Army Boys Club again using her culinary skills.  Lydia's "Lottie's" kind and loving spirit was cause for her to become "Mom Lottie" or "Grand mom Lottie" to the friends of all of her children.  She loved to joke around and laugh.  She never met a stranger.  To know her was to love her.

A Time for Comfort

"Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." (Matthew 5:4)

She leaves to cherish fond memories with her children:  Gregory & Evelyn White of Edgewood, MD, Marilyn (Charles) Fountain of Clinton, MD, and Patricia (Sylvester) Briddell, Maria White and Kevin (Lisa) White, all of Salisbury, MD., 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.; a special niece and "Pew Partner" Anna Leake of Salisbury, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Lydia was preceded in death by her siblings Alexander, Benjamin Jr., Pauline, Lucinda, Cora and Sally and her children Pauline, Cedric and Portia.

A Time to Acknowledge

The family wishes to express their deepest and heartfelt appreciation for the many expressions of sympathy, love and acts of kindness that have been extended to the family during this time of bereavement
