Newark - Mabel Marie Tingle, 89 of Newark, MD died Sunday morning at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in Newark, MD, she was the daughter of the late George and Isabel (Selby) Purnell.  Her late husband Otho Tingle died in 2007.

She was employed with numerous companies in the Berlin/Ocean City area.

She was a member of Tyree A.M.E. Church in Berlin where se served on the Missionary Board, Stewardess Board and choir.  She also attended the Worcester County Adult Daycare Center in Snow Hill, MD.

Her survivors include three children: Otho Darrell (Lydia) Tingle of Newark, MD, Rodney L. (Janice) Tingle of Grand Prarie, TX and Wilsie J. Mercer of Stone Mountain, GA; eight grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Two brothers: Calvin and Selby Purnell and seven sisters: Bertie and Carrie Purnell, Addie Whaley, Pearl Henry, Viola Tingle, Wilsie Satchell and Margie Johnson preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Tyree A.M.E. Church in Berlin, where friends may call two hours prior to service.  Interment will be in New Bethel/Tyree Church Cemetery in Berlin.
