Martha Landora Smiley-Truitt, affectionately known as “Dollbaby,” was born on September 8, 1952, in Salisbury, Maryland, to the late Pearl E. Smiley and Harry Smullen. On August 4, 2026, Martha peacefully entered eternal rest, surrounded by her loving family.

Martha received her education through the Wicomico County Public School System, and began her Christian journey at Zion United Methodist Church in San Domingo, Maryland. Later, she became a member of St. Matthew’s First Baptist Church in Laurel, Delaware, where she served as First Lady alongside her husband.

On September 12, 1970, Martha married the love of her life, Reverend Errond Benjamin Truitt Sr. Together, they shared more than 50 years of marriage and raised four children. Martha was a hardworking woman who dedicated her life to caring for and providing for others. Throughout the years, she worked at Salisbury Manufacturers, Delmar Sewing Factory, Perdue Farms, Wicomico Teen Adult Center, Head Start, Dove Point, and Walmart.

Martha’s greatest joy was her family. She loved cooking, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving caregiver and babysitter to many of her grandchildren and children throughout the neighborhood. She also shared her love of dance with her grandchildren, encouraging them to participate in the church’s Creative Dance Team. She took great pride in watching them grow in faith, confidence, and fellowship through dance.

Martha had a heart of gold. She was generous, compassionate, dependable, and always willing to help others. Her family will forever remember her strength, generosity, beautiful spirit, her cooking, her love of shopping, and most importantly the unconditional love she gave so freely.

Martha leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Reverend Errond Benjamin Truitt Sr.; her children, Ronnet McKenzie, , Errond (Deborah) Truitt Jr., Demond Truitt Sr.; and Jymesha Truitt and her siblings, Rose Smith- Pierce, Anthony Smullen, Vinal Smullen and Beverly Archer. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved godsons, Anthony Holmes, Kameron Winder, and Rossie Winder Jr.; devoted cousins Franklin Smiley and Danice Smiley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl E. Smiley and Harry Smullen; her beloved twin sister,Margaret McCoy; her brother, Alfonso Smullen.

Though our hearts are heavy, we thank God for allowing us to share 73 beautiful years with Martha. Her earthly work is complete, but the love she gave, the lives she touched, and memories she created will live on through her family and generations to come.
