Naomi Alice Davis, 81 died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury, where she had been a resident since 2010.
Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Joseph W., Sr. and Naomi (Gale) Williams.
She was a 1951 graduate of the former Salisbury High School. Upon graduation, she matriculated at the former Bowie State Teachers College, now Bowie State University, receiving a BS degree in elementary education. She did further studies at the former Salisbury State Teachers College, now Salisbury University, receiving a Master's Equivalency.
She teaching career which spanned 31 years began at the former: Chestertown Elementary School, Salisbury Elementary School and Quantico Elementary School. She also taught at West Salisbury School and retired in 1990 from Willards Elementary School.
She was a lifelong member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, now Mt. Olive Christian Fellowship Church in Fruitland. She served as a Sunday school teacher, church pianist, Willing Worker's Club, Missionary Society, Kitchen Committee, Chancel Choir and Steward of the Trustee Board.
Her civic memberships included: NEA, Wicomico County Education Assoc., Maryland State Retired Personnel Assoc., Wicomico County Retired Personnel Assoc., Bowie Alumni and Salisbury High School Alumni Association.
Her survivors include her husband of over 56 years, Theodore Davis of Fruitland, MD; two children: Renee' Reid and Ron (Malinda) Davis, Sr., all of Salisbury, MD; four grandsons: Reginald, Jr. (Ashley), Ryan Reid, Ron, Jr. and Byron Davis; one great-grandson: Aiden Reid, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Mt. Olive Christian Fellowship Church in Fruitland, where friends may call two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron, MD.
