Atlantic City – Nathaniel Preston "Jack" DeShields, Jr., 73, died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at his home in Atlantic City.
Born in Snow Hill, he was the son of the late Nathaniel, Sr. and Mary (Stevenson) DeShields.
He attended 2nd Baptist Church in Atlantic, City.
He was formerly employed with the former Showell Poultry Company in Showell, MD and J. Rowland Dashiell Construction Company of Salisbury, MD.
Jack is survived by three children: Danette Purnell of Berlin, MD, Cynthia Bunch of Atlanta, GA and Kerri "Pooh-pooh" Bunch of Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers: John "Harry" DeShields of Pompano Beach, FL and Albert DeShields of San Angelo, TX; four sisters: Barbara McCoy, his twin: Shirley Harvey, both of Salisbury, MD; Martha DeShields of Egg Harbor, NJ and Catherine Handy of Laurel, DE and a host of nieces and nephews.
A brother and two sisters, Linwood Stevenson, Alfonsie Purnell and Mary Copeland, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Greenidge Funeral Home, 301 Absecon Blvd, Atlantic City, NJ and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at New Dimensions Ministries, 1907 Jersey Road, Salisbury, MD. Family will receive friends, one hour prior to service. Interment will be held in St. James Holiness Church Cemetery in Snow Hill, MD.

Services are entrusted to Greenidge Funeral Home in Atlantic City and Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury.
