Novella L. Stith, 93 formerly of Hill Street died Saturday, November 28, 2013, at Salisbury Genesis: Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury.
Born in Allen, she was the daughter of the late Luther C. and Virginia H. (Polk) Banks. Her late husbands, Charles Mapp and James Phillip Stith preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of the former Salisbury Colored High School. She retired in 1983 as an Assistant Supervisor in the dietary department of Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Upon her retirement she volunteered as a foster grandparent for Shore-Up, Inc.
Mrs. Stith was a member of Mills Memorial Baptist Temple. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #145, both in Salisbury.
Her survivors include a daughter, Dr. Monterey B. Miller, a step-daughter, Priscilla Mapp Anderson, both of Salisbury, MD; one granddaughter, Janina B. (Everett, Jr.) Peters of Virginia Beach; three step-grandchildren; five great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren, one sister, Glenwell Banks of Salisbury; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.
Seven siblings, one grandson and one great granddaughter preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 6, 2013 at Mills Memorial Baptist Temple in Salisbury. Interment will be in Green Acres Memorial Park. Friends may call Jolley Memorial Chapel, 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 2013 and on Friday at the church, one hour prior to service.
