The Life and Legacy of Patricia Gaines

Patricia Brown Gaines, 51, peacefully transitioned from this life on April 24, 2026 at TidalHealth Peninsula surrounded by family. She was born October 25, 1974 in Salisbury, MD, the daughter of Brenda Marine.

After graduating from Delmar Jr. and Sr. High School, she received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Salisbury University. She later graduated from Widener University with a master’s in social work. Her 25-year career in social work took her to many places including Mentor Maryland, TidalHealth Peninsula, and most recently, Vitas Hospice.

Pat was joined in holy matrimony on March 29, 2003 to Deric Gaines. God blessed this couple to celebrate 23 years of marriage. From this union they had 3 daughters.

She was a member of New Dimensions Family Ministries where she enjoyed attending service every Sunday. Her greatest love was her children and grandchildren. They were the greatest joy of her life and what kept her going.

Precious and loving memories will be cherished by: her husband, Deric Gaines; three daughters, Keyana, Kayla and Kya Gaines of Delmar, Delaware; parents Brenda (Craig) Marine of Seaford, Delaware; brother Devon ‘Tony’ (Dana) Brown of Williamstown, New Jersey; two grandchildren Skylar and Hudson Wheatley; mother-in-law Gloria Gaines of Delmar, Delaware; two brother-in-laws, Nathaniel (Tanya) Gaines and Pearles ‘PJ” Gaines Jr. both of Delmar, Delaware and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by: her grandparents Lona Brown and Samuel Brown; great-grandmother Lyla Horsey and father-in-law Pearles Gaines.
