Eden – Peter (Pete) Davis, Sr. 83 died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.
Born in Heartsville, S.C., he was the son of the late Carol Belle Benjamin Davis.
He relocated to the Eden area in 1949 and in 1965 opened Davis Concrete Work in Fruitland, which he owned and operated for 45 years.
He was a member of the Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. In 1994 he became the head Pastor and Overseer of Seaford Community Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Alveta R. Davis; eight daughters: Janis Sanders, Linette (Larry) Rogers, Martha Ross, Francine (Derrick) Thompson, Carol (Anthony) Johnson, Teresa (Michael) Foster, Matilda Tull, Karenna (Kenneth) Jones; seven sons: Gary, Sr. (Marcia), Kent, Bernie, Sr. (Priscilla), Brice, Sr. ( Tanya) Jerel, Sr. (Melissa), Byron, Sr. (Corie) and Rufus (Suzette) Davis; sixty grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, one daughter-in-law: Jeanette Davis; two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.
A daughter and son, Arlene (1957) and Peter Davis, Jr. ( 2013) preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, 217 Beaglin Park Drive, Salisbury, MD. Interment will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2016 at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron, MD. Friends may view on Friday from 6-8 pm at Greater Higher Hope Temple, 800 Johnson St., Salisbury, MD and on Saturday, one hour prior to service.
