Raymond Bartram (Ray) Purnell, III f Maple Avenue n Berlin, MD died Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Atlantic General Hospital.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Grace Gaines Purnell and the late Raymond B. Purnell, II, who died November 8, 2013.
Raymond was a graduate of Overbrook High School in Philadelphia, PA. Upon his graduation, he attended the Lincoln University in Lincoln, PA.
He was employed as a chef for several restaurants in the Ocean City area, including Phillips Restaurant and Princess Royale.
He was a member of Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church in Philadelphia, PA and attended St. Paul United Methodist Church in Berlin, MD.
He survived by his wife of 27 years, Penny Purnell, his mother Grace G. Purnell, both of Berlin; one sister: Joanne (George) Williams of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters-in-law: Nina Caldwell of Boston, MA and Teresa (Ellis) Holloman of Jacksonville, FL; three brothers-in-law: John Caldwell and Irvin Wright, both of Delaware and David Piper of Detroit, MI ; four aunts and two uncles: Lois (Charles) Corey, Hattie Hamilton and Sarah Smith, all of Philadelphia PA and Emma (John C.) Briddell of Berlin, MD. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends.
A sister, Romaine Pringle preceded him in death.
