Robert Lee Horsey, 81, affectionately known as "Rebop," of Salisbury, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at his residence.
Robert was born on October 21, 1943, in Salisbury, Maryland. He was the oldest son of the late Marion Ennis Sr., the late Mildred Horsey, and the grandson of the late Ruth D. Horsey. He was educated in the Wicomico County Public School System and attended Salisbury High School before enlisting in the United States Army.
Robert worked for Interstate Construction and later retired from The Salisbury School. He was a devoted member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Hebron, Maryland, where he served faithfully as a Trustee. Robert had a deep love for music; he enjoyed singing and playing both the piano and keyboard. He played for the St. Luke Gospel Choir, the Male Choir, and the Sunbeams Choir.
Robert found joy in spending time with family and friends and had a fondness for watching wrestling, football, and soap operas.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mabel Elias Horsey; his son, Kent Horsey; his sister, Sheila Ennis; and his granddaughter, Kenise Horsey.
Loving memories will be cherished by his sons: Craig Handy of Cambridge, Maryland, and Retired Lieutenant Colonel Barry (Kaylaa) Horsey of Woodbridge, Virginia; two brothers: Warner L. Horsey of The Netherlands and Marion Ennis Jr. of Bowie, Maryland; one sister: Ruth E. Horsey of Baltimore, Maryland; three nephews: Warner "Lee" Horsey and Stevie Horsey, both of The Netherlands, and Steven Merritt of Baltimore, Maryland; two nieces: Arien Blokhuis of The Netherlands and Candice Merritt of Baltimore, Maryland; 12 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; a very special friend, Dorothy Morton; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
