Samuel Alexander Johnson Sr., 81, affectionately known as 'Petey' and 'Sam' of Upper Hill, Maryland, peacefully transitioned on October 25, 2024, while at Tidalhealth Peninsula Regional Medical Center, in Salisbury, Maryland. He was born on May 21, 1943, to the late Anne Luvenia Johnson and William Frazier Johnson.

Samuel attended Manokins Elementary School and Somerset County High School. Later he enlisted in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965. Samuel and Anne Johnson were united in holy matrimony for 59 years.

Samuel was employed at various jobs, including Perdue Farms in Salisbury, Maryland as a supervisor in the packing department, and Chesapeake Foods and Tyson Foods, as night shift manager. He also worked for the Clarion Hotel in maintenance.

Fishing, spending time with his family, and watching the Commanders play football were his favorite pastime activities. Samuel enjoyed working on cars and fixing things around the house. His favorite television show was Court TV. He will be greatly missed those who knew him and loved him.

Samuel leaves to cherish memories, his loving wife of 59 years, Anne Johnson,  three children, Shannon Johnson-Schoolfield (Ralph), Samuel Johnson Jr. (Shawanda), and Brandon Johnson Sr., fourteen grandchildren, Brandon Johnson Jr., Timothy Moses, Tyrece Moses Sr., Tia Moses, Keon Tull, Timara Ringgold, Shaniya Johnson, Tenae Johnson, Aon Johnson, Nakai Johnson, Javon Johnson, Wendell Hitch Jr., Eric Hayward Jr., Jadon Hayward, two sisters, Annette Pugh, Faith White (Tyrone), four brothers, William Johnson, Hallis Johnson (Nadine), Herschel Johnson (Rosalee), Keith Johnson (Tina) , eleven in-laws, Barbara Washington-Smalling, Diane Washington-White (Albert), Marvel Wedington, Quinten Williams, Donald Williams (Kathy), Michael Sterling (Karen), Mitchell Sterling, Ivan Lankford, Adalyn Tilghman (Harold), Cynthia Williams, Selena Maddox, Lynette Cullen, and a host of other extended relatives, cousins, and friends.
