Salisbury - Sarah Elizabeth Mapp Jolly, 97 of 626 Hill Street died Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD.
Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Jennings Edgar Mapp and Priscilla Jacobs Mapp. Her late husband, Rev. Emerson C. Jolly died April 1976.
She was a 1935 graduate of the former Salisbury Colored High School.
She was employed for over sixty years with the Pryor Family of Salisbury.
Her memberships included: Wesley Temple United Methodist Church in Salisbury and their Chancel Choir and United Methodist Women; Minister's Wives Association of the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church where she was a choir member and past secretary; charter member of the Howard J. Purnell Memorial Unit #145, American Legion Auxiliary of Salisbury and life member of the Salisbury High School Alumni Association.
Her survivors include a special niece: Priscilla Mapp Anderson of Salisbury; two other nieces: Dr. Monterey B. Miller and Dr. Linda C. Jolly, four nephews: Walter Mapp of Philadelphia, PA, William (Margie) Mapp of Guthrie, OK, Michael Mapp of Southfield, MI and Merritt (Jill) Mapp, Jr. of Fitchbury, WI; sister-in-law: Clady Mapp of Oak Park, MI; six step-grandchildren and four generations of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Wesley Temple United Methodist Church, 1322 West Road in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Green Acres Memorial Park in Salisbury, MD.
