Obituary

Delmar- Seldon George Dix, Jr., 84, of Delmar, MD, transitioned peacefully Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD.

Mr. Dix was born in Cambridge, MD to the late Reverend Seldon Dix, Sr. and Ellis Adams Dix. He was the youngest of four siblings, all of whom predeceased him: William Grant Dix (Elizabeth), Gloria Dix Chapman (Carlyle), and Richard Dix.

Mr. Dix received his high school diploma from Mary Potter Academy Boarding School in Oxford, NC. Upon graduation, he matriculated to Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY receiving a B.A. Degree in Graphic Design. He did further studies at various universities. Mr. Dix served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, receiving an honorable discharge. He was employed with American Broadcasting Company (ABC) for ten years. Mr. Dix retired in 1990 from Time Warner Incorporated as Executive Art Director of the TIME Promotion Art Department of TIME Magazine, which afforded him the opportunity to travel to many countries abroad. During his retirement, Mr. Dix worked as a freelance photographer and graphic artist. He was on the Board of the Art Institute and Gallery in Salisbury, MD, where he received numerous awards and citations. His work has been displayed in several galleries throughout the United States.

He relocated from New York, along with his wife, to Delmar, MD in 1994. Mr. Dix was a member of Wesley Temple United Methodist Church, serving with the United Methodist Men, while working alongside other organizations within his church.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Annabelle Church Dix; daughter, Dr. Angela Dix Seals (Pastor); son, Dr. David Dix (Therol); grandson, Norbert "Norby" Seals; grand-daughters, Katherine Dix and Brittney Harmon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 11:00 am at Wesley Temple United Methodist Church, 1322 West Road, Salisbury, Maryland 21801, where friends may view 2 hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Church Family Cemetery, entrance at 29318 Connelly Mill Road, Delmar, MD.
