Susie Mae Dashiell, daughter of the late Leroy H. Nichols, Sr. and Louise (Fields) Nichols Edmundson, was born in Quantico, MD on April 26, 1927. Surrounded by her family, she peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Deer's Head State Hospital in Salisbury, MD.
She received her formal education in the public schools of Wicomico County, and was a 1944 graduate of the former Salisbury High School. Upon graduation, she matriculated at the former Bowie State Teachers' College, now Bowie State University, graduating in 1948 with a Bachelor's degree.
She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Wilson M. Dashiell and from this union she was blessed with three devoted daughters.
Susie was a dedicated member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Hebron, MD where she served on the United Methodist Women and other organizations within the church.
She was employed as a Dietary Supervisor at Deer's Head Hospital Center in Salisbury, retiring with thirty years of service.
She was a loving, kindhearted, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by her family and those that knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish loving memories with her three daughters: Brenda (Wayne) Clark, Wanda and Rita Dashiell, all of Salisbury, MD; eight grandchildren: Waynette (Omar) Harmon, Bronda Wilson, Lerita (Frank) Roberston, Davina (Michael) Campbell, Brian Johnson, TyKesha Blake, April Dashiell, Brandon Collins; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; one sister: Marian N. Parker and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends.
Four siblings: Martha N. Jones, Carolyn N. Birckhead, Scott J. Nichols, and Leroy H. Nichols; two brothers-in-law: Jesse Parker and Gerald Birckhead, one niece: Melissa Parker and one nephew: Michael Nichols preceded her in death.
